Regional Health Assessment

The NMRHN, in partnership with the Truman State University Division of Health & Exercise Science, conducted a Regional Health Assessment Project (RHAP-05) in 2005.  The assessment included a subjective survey as well as collection of existing data.  Nearly 5,000 surveys were distributed in a random mailing to the residents of the eleven-county service region listing 198 questions on: (1) demographic information, (2) county health concerns, (3) affordable health care services, (4) local health care utilization, and (5) assessment of other health needs.  The assessment was conducted to assist in: (a) determining current health status, (b) identifying trends and needed health care services, and (c) future program planning and implementation.

Our hope is that this document will act as a catalyst to determine areas of priority and will provide opportunities for dialogue and collaboration among community leaders, planners and organizations.

All sections of the full report are available in .pdf format below.

As part of the project, a Northeast Missouri Community Health Report Card was also developed to share information on the health status of area residents regarding chronic diseases in comparison to  state and national figures.   It includes tips on improving lifestyles in order to live a longer, healthier life. Click on the link below to view the Report Card in a .pdf format.

“Funding for this project was provided in part by the Missouri Foundation for Health.  The Missouri Foundation for Health is a philanthropic organization whose mission is to improve the health of the people in the communities it serves.”
